
Photo of a White-tailed hawk made by Steven Wytema in 2005 in Suriname. There the bird is common in the savanna region and especially (Haverschmidt) on sandy savannas with scattered groups of palms, as on this photograph. In Venezuela (Hilty) it regularly hunts by hovering, on Curacao you can meet it sitting on a cactus. The white rump and tail by which it can be recognised can not be seen in this picture.
